This is an example of a successful keyword search.
You can run lynx with a vt100 terminal emulation--this allows you
to access a WWW site from home over a slow 2400 baud modem with no
SLIP or PPP connection required.
If you have an Ethernet or SLIP/PPP connection, you should run
Netscape with the following URL addresses instead of lynx.
To start lynx up to search databases at the ncbi:
mbcrr% lynx http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov <Return>
Press the down arrow key to select:
_Searching GenBank and other Databases_
Now select:
* Text Searching
The options listed under "Search with Non-Forms Clients" work just like
searching Genbank with gopher:
Search with Non-Forms Clients
* GenBank
* GenBank Updates
Select GenBank
Type s
for search as it states at the bottom of the screen.
Enter a database search string: zebrafish and homeobox and mouse<Return>
(You will see the results of your search on the screen:)

If you press p
for print, it gives you a menu
of several choices, one of which is to save this whole list to a file:
PRINTING OPTIONS
Save to a local file
Mail the file to yourself
Print to the screen
Hit <Return>
for "Save to a local file" and then choose a filename.
Disadvantages
Lets say you wish to see if there is a known sequence in the database dealing
with human HIV type 1 protease. If you do not know the accession number
or database locusname of the sequence you are interested in, you will need to
do a keyword search of the databases.
